Handgun Permit Information

How Do I Obtain a Handgun Permit?

The State of Indiana has implemented an online procedure to obtain an Indiana Handgun Permit. For instructions on applying for an Indiana Handgun Permit visit this web page.

The online application for a Handgun Permit can be found at this web page.

Online Application

After completing the online application you MUST visit your local law enforcement agency. The Noble County Sheriff’s Department is available to assist with handgun permits Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The Noble County Sheriff’s Department will no longer be doing fingerprinting at our location for firearms.  Applicants will need to make an appointment at a L1 zone (explained in the online application) after filling out the application online.  After your fingerprints are scanned, you will have to wait 24 hours before going to your local police agency to continue the process.

Important Warning

An Indiana handgun license is not recognized by most other states and may not allow you to legally carry a firearm outside of the State of Indiana. Always check with authorities before attempting to transport a weapon across state lines.
